Umashi joined Tiruchelvam Associates in 2023, bringing with her three years of expertise in Corporate Law, Company Secretarial and governance work. Recognised by The Legal 500, she specialises in corporate governance advisory and supports the firm’s Tax Practice.
Umashi advises on complex corporate law matters, offering clear and strategic guidance. She handles corporate governance and secretarial matters, assists in conducting extensive corporate due diligence on Sri Lankan companies, prepares legal opinions on a range of corporate and tax-related issues, including investment structuring, dividend repatriation, and related party transactions. She also represents clients before the Department of Foreign Exchange for special permissions and assists clients with tax registration and clearance from the Department of Inland Revenue for cross-border remittances.
Outside of work, Umashi enjoys hiking, climbing, and reflecting on life’s deeper meaning. Her legal expertise, attention to detail, and proactive approach make her an invaluable member of the team.
